According to OSHA, Arizona operates an occupational safety and health program in accordance with Section 18 of the OSH Act 1970. The Arizona State Plan is administered by the Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA) and within the ICA, the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) is responsible for enforcement and voluntary compliance. This plan was published with final approval on June 20th 1985.
Arizona has adopted federal OSHA safety standards by reference and enforces the standards from 29 CFR, parts 1910 (General Industry), 1926 (Construction Industry) and 1928 (Agriculture). There are a few requirements that are Arizona specific, including prohibition on the use of the short-handled hoe in agriculture work and the use of PVC pipe to transport compressed gasses, including air.
ADOSH is headquartered in Phoenix and has offices in Phoenix and Tucson.
