Washington Occupational Safety and Health Information

According to OSHA, Washington operates its own worker safety and health program under a plan approved by the U.S. Department of Labor. This program provides safety and health protections to most private sector workers, as well as state and local government employees within Washington.

Washington State Plan

Washington has a state plan which is managed by the Department of Labor and Industry (DL&I) Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH). Washington’s program has some significant differences in federal rules for fall protection, respiratory protection, aerial lifts and agriculture.
