OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 Training Now Required for Entertainment Industry Employees in Nevada

Nevada's Governor approved Assembly Bill 190 on May 24th, 2017 which requires additional safety training for many entertainment industry workers. Effective January 1, 2018, many employees in the field must now complete an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry course (non-supervisory employee) or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry course (supervisory employee).

Who does this new Nevada OSHA training requirement affect?

Workers whose primary occupation site includes one of the following categories:

  • Wardrobe, makeup, or hair

  • Other parts or items related to the components or items described above and are used in conjunction with the production or presentation of:

    • Television programs, which includes but is not limited to:
      • Live broadcasts
      • Closed-circuit broadcasts
      • Videotape recordings
      • Playback

When do I need to take this OSHA training course?

Assembly Bill 190 went into effect on January 1, 2018, requiring those in Nevada working within the impacted industries to have an OSHA card. Employees must now complete an OSHA 10- or OSHA 30-hour General Industry course within 15 days of being hired.

Where can I take an approved Nevada OSHA course?

These OSHA 10- and 30-Hour General Industry online courses are accepted in the State of Nevada and met the requirements of this bill, including those working in Las Vegas and Reno. If you leave Nevada and relocate to another state, your training will be honored there as well.

How long is my OSHA card valid for?

Under the new Assembly Bill 190, your OSHA card will be valid for 5 years. After 5 years, employees will be required to renew their OSHA card.
